Homemade Christmas

I am sure I am not alone in stating that Christmas will be a little different this year. I have scoured the internet looking for homemade gift ideas and have come up with little to none! As I began to get frustrated I thought about all the BLOGGERS out there. There are so many of you who are so talented, crafty and full of great ideas!! This got me thinking about posting for help with gift giving ideas that cost as little as possible and I decided that I don't deserve to know them any more than anyone else! So, that is where MckLinky comes to play! If you are interested in helping a desperate lady (ahem.. that's me) then please participate. Not to mention I will be more than embarrassed to have an empty post! LOL!

All you have to do is post something that you have made. I'm talking EVERYTHING! Christmas cards, ornaments, gifts, baked goods and even decorating tips! The sky is the limit! This weeks questions are...
1. What is your favorite "eat" on Thanksgiving?
What's not to be a favorite? I mean turkey, ham, pumpkin pie etc!! Really, the best part is just being together with our families and being thankful for all we have!
2. What is the name your best girl friend and the best trait about her or how you met (or heck, both!!) I have lots of friends that I am close too in different ways so I never call anyone a BEST friend. But, the 1 in my life that I can say I truly trust with all I have is my friend Carmen. We met in 8th grade and became fast friends. After graduating we rarely got to see one another because her husband was in the military which moved them to Texas. However, that did in no way affect our friendship. Although we had other friends that we did stuff with and probably had lots more in common with in adulthood it didn't take away the fact that we could and can still always call one another up and tell anything and everything we wanted to say but wouldn't say to anyone else. I am so thankful to say that I still have her as my friend and I will always love her like a sister.
3. What would you say is one of your "weirdest" quirks?
Hmmm just one? Well, I guess one would be the fact that I am a door shutting fool! You said weird so that's what I am giving ya! I can't help it. I seriously can not rest at night unless I check to make sure all the doors are closed. I am NOT just talking about doors to the outside here people I mean closet doors, cabinet doors but NOT bedroom or bathroom. Told ya it was weird.
4. What is your favorite genre of music? (Hip hop? Classical? Rock? etc.) I love ALL kinds of music but my favorite would be Country. It is the easiest for me to sing along too and I love to sing!
5. Are you a Night Owl...or an Early Bird?
A little of both. I like to stay up late but I am such a morning person too! Drives my husband nuts! LOL!

This is the time of year we all enjoy getting cozy by a fire. Here is an easy way to use everyday thrown away items to make a safe fire starter. This is NOT an activity a child needs to do alone so make sure to supervise!
Cut up a paper egg carton into individual little cups.

Then fill each cup with dryer lint, light a candle and let the wax melt over the top of the dryer lint.

All you have to do is light the carton and place kindling over and you are done! The cartons burn longer making sure to get your fire started!

What a great way to REDUCE, RECYCLE AND REUSE!

Like I need another reason...

Another reason to LOVE fall! Dani loves making piles of leaves and jumping in them over and over! This fall is no exception either! This time she has added sliding down a hill into a pile of leaves part of her "to do" list!

What are your favorite candles/scents?

I am a major candle lover as I am sure most of you are as well! This time of year I fill my home with scents of the season. I love Apple Cinnamon and Pumpkin Spice. I use those scents from October through February and then I switch to more fruity scents like Cucumber Melon and White Tea Lily! I like that anytime someone comes through my door they say "Mmmmm... Your house smells so good!"

Dani's First Youth Hunt

Dani did NOT come home empty handed this weekend during her first Youth Hunt. I am proud to say my 9 year old daughter brought home not one but TWO bucks this weekend! This was also Dani's first time in a tree stand.

The first is a 4 point. This is a deer she shot at 4:30 Saturday afternoon.

The Second is an 8 point! We just couldn't believe it! This is a deer she shot at 7:20 this (Sunday) morning!

Daniel and I are so proud of our little deer hunter!

1. What is your dream job?
I have to say I have always LOVED being a stay at home momma to Dani and wife to Daniel! I don't think there is a more rewarding job. Too bad I have never drawn a paycheck for this profession!
2. What song could you play over and over?
I'm not sure I could name just one song. I am a major music lover and am drawn to so many different types of music. I would have to say that recent music I listen too over and over would be anything from Miranda Lambert. I just love her! I also love the song Your The Reason God Made Oklahoma. Don't ask why because I couldn't tell you and no I'm NOT from OK! LOL!
3. Do you prefer to talk on the phone or text (or email)?
TEXT TEXT TEXT! I loathe talking on the phone. I want to say what I want to say and be done. LOL! As far as email well... I have to say I never email anyone really. I usually just TEXT them because I know they are getting it.
4. What is your must have beauty product?
Lip gloss! I am hooked on clear lip gloss. I just don't like colors on me so I only use clear. I have a tube everywhere! My purse, truck, bathroom, by the computer, in a scrap booking drawer, on my dresser and even one in Daniel's truck sometimes! LOL!
5. What is your favorite Michael Jackson song?
Just one? Never could I pick just one! How about you pick one and just know it is probably a favorite! :-)

Trick Or Treat

REED, DANI AND DARCY ABOUT TO CHECK OUT THE BUCKETS I GOT FOR THEM! HOPEFULLY THEY CAN HANG ON TO THE GOODIES INSIDE. DANIEL KEPT TEASING THEM THAT HE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE ALL THEIR CHOCOLATE!

BEFORE WE HEADED OUT THE DOOR WE HAD SOME SNACK FOODS!

THE GIRLS GOT BUCKETS AND BUCKETS OF CANDY TOO!

THERE LOTS OF COOL DECORATIONS TO LOOK AT TOO! THIS DOESN'T EVEN PORTRAY IT ALL BUT IT IS A COOL PICTURE!

THEN IT WAS TIME TO CHECK OUT THE CANDY, LET THE KIDS EAT A COUPLE PIECES AND THEN HEAD HOME!

HOW ARE YOU ADJUSTING TO THE TIME CHANGE?
I LOVE IT! I AM TO BED EARLY AND AWAKE EARLY THIS TIME OF YEAR! LOL
